Overall Scope of the Position:
Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) has been awarded the rights to host the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation’s (IWBF) 2026 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship (2026WWBC) – the world’s largest team sport event for high-performance athletes with a disability. The elite tournament is unlike any other international sporting event previously held in Canada. It is a spectacle of eye-opening athleticism, tenacity and perseverance starring the top wheelchair basketball athletes. It is an emotionally charged experience that defies perceptions and an inspiring celebration that unites people and captivates audiences around the world over 11 days of fierce competition. With 28 teams (16 men’s and 12 women’s), the event will feature 620+ team members, involve 1000 of participants, tens of thousands of spectators, and move millions.
The 2026WWBC Event Manager will be a key member of the local organizing committee over the next 5 years, and will be responsible for assisting WBC’s senior leadership with logistical and operational requirements for the event.
WBC is the National Sport Organization responsible for wheelchair basketball in Canada and a member of the IWBF.
