Provincial League

The Great Lakes Conference is the provincial wheelchair basketball league in Ontario and part of the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL). It features three separate divisions to allow for players of all ages, abilities, and skill levels to participate at a desired level that is appropriate for them.

Athletes and coaches must be registered ONPARA members in order to play in the Great Lakes Conference.

Division 1 (Competitive)

This division is meant for Ontario’s most skilled and experienced athletes/teams looking to compete at the highest provincial level.

Division 1 tournaments feature 5×5 games in a round robin format, typically held once a month throughout the season, with each participating club hosting one tournament.

Division 2 (Open)

This division is meant for new and experienced adults seeking recreationally competitive opportunities. Athletes are typically aged 17+ (though exceptions can be made for younger athletes, depending on their levels of experience).

The Division 2 league will feature tournaments throughout the season held in various locations across the province, with games played in a 5×5 format.

Division 3 (Minis)

This division is meant as an introductory competition and development opportunity for Ontario’s recreationally competitive youth. The Division is open to athletes aged 16 and under (affectionately known as “Minis” across Canada), though exceptions can be made for older athletes, aged 17-19, depending on their levels of experience.

The Division 3 league will feature 3×3 games in a round robin format, typically held once a month throughout the season, with each participating club hosting one tournament.
