🥈 Team Canada Wins Silver at the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships
Team Canada has captured silver at the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Ottawa!
The Senior Women’s National Team came within one possession of gold on Saturday, falling 77–76 to the United States in a thrilling championship final.
Canada’s silver medal marks the team’s first World Championship podium finish since 2014, when Canada won gold on home soil in Toronto.
Canada came out strong in the final, taking a 27–20 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 41–38 advantage into halftime. The team continued to battle throughout the second half, holding a narrow 60–59 lead heading into the fourth quarter before the United States edged ahead in the final moments.
Kady Dandeneau led all scorers with an outstanding 34 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, earning World Championship MVP honours. Arinn Young also had a standout performance, recording a triple-double with 30 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds, while earning All-Star honours.
