Statement of Cancellation – Wheelchair Basketball
STATEMENT REGARDING WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL SANCTIONED EVENTS
Following recent developments in the COVID-19 outbreak, all wheelchair basketball sanctioned events scheduled before April 6th have been postponed or cancelled. This includes the upcoming GLC Division 2 (Open) and Division 3 (Minis) tournaments scheduled for Saturday March 14th and Sunday March 29th, respectively. All ‘Have a Go’ days and Team Ontario training camps have also been cancelled as we strive to ensure our athletes, staff or volunteers are not at risk.
Our hosts, the Brock Niagara Penguins and Cruisers Sports had committed a lot of time and energy to organize the tournaments and we want to thank them for their efforts. We know they share our mission of providing a safe environment for our community. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will work with both clubs to reschedule events if possible.
The safety and well-being of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and staff members remains our first priority. We appreciate everyone’s understanding in this regard, and hope for everyone’s continued health and safety at this time.
