NCCP Wheelchair Basketball ‘Competition Introduction Advanced’ Coaching Clinic
The focus of this course is to continue to learn to coach the basic skills and tactics of wheelchair basketball, and to support the competitive experience for athletes in the ‘Train to Train’ stage of Long-Term Athlete Development pathway. Coaches will learn:
- Advanced concepts such as the integration of mental skills into practices and games, planning practices for different phases of a season, and providing effective feedback and questioning.
- How to design and manage a sport program.
- Effective design and implementation of the components of a practice, including the use of whole-part-whole and learning progressions.
Prerequisite: This course is designed for coaches who have completed the NCCP Wheelchair Basketball ‘Competition Introduction’ workshop.
Note: The Competition Introduction Advanced course is a 22-hour workshop, scheduled over three to four days with on- and off-court teachings. Coaches must attend the entire duration of the course in order to be credited for completion.

Rate: $85/night (two bedroom suite)
The OWSA will coordinate accommodations for coach candidates, though candidates will be responsible for covering their own costs.

- Thursday, July 12 – evening, classroom only
- Friday, July 13 – full day, classroom and gym
- Saturday, July 14 – full day, classroom and gym
- Sunday, July 15 – morning & early afternoon, classroom and gym
Registration
Deadline:
Coach candidates are required to complete their registration online by Monday, June 25.
Registration Fee: $100
This will help to cover the cost of the facility rental, course materials, and coach candidates’ meals throughout the course. Candidates will be responsible for covering the cost of their own accommodations and transportation.

Payment can be completed online using credit card or PayPal or by cheque. If paying by cheque, please have it made out to the Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association and mailed to:

Financial Assistance: The Coaches Association of Ontario provides Coach Bursaries for Ontario residents for up to 60% of course registration fees (in-person workshop training) to a maximum of $300 per individual.
