2022 Mississauga Ontario Parasport Games

The Ontario Parasport Games were first delivered in 1975 by the City of Cambridge. Since then, the Games have grown to over 500 participants competing in 10 sports. The Mississauga 2022 Ontario Parasport Games will be the 42nd edition.

The wheelchair basketball competition will feature club teams from across Ontario competing in a 3-on-3 format for the title of 2022 Parasport Games champions!

Payment can be completed online using credit card or PayPal or in person by cheque or cash. If paying by cheque, please make it out to the Ontario Para Network and bring it with you to the Games.

Format:
The tournament will be played in a 3-on-3 format and will follow Wheelchair Basketball Canada’s rules for full-court 3-on-3 competitions, with some modifications. Rules to be discussed and finalized with coaches’ input.

  • A size 7 basketball will be used
  • Games will be played on a regulation size court (full court)
  • All made baskets are worth 1 point each
    • There is no acknowledgement of the 3-point line
  • Game timing:
    • Five (5) minute warm up guaranteed
    • Four (4) x five (5) minute quarters (stop time)
    • Two (2) minute intermission (half-time)
    • 1 minute between quarters
    • Two (2) minute overtime periods (if applicable)
  • There will be no eight (8) second violation rule
  • There will be no back-court violation rule
  • A player who has committed four (4) fouls will be disqualified from the game.
  • A team is in a team foul situation when it has committed four (4) fouls in one half.
  • Teams cannot play more than two (2) able-bodied players on the court at any time. Teams in violation of this rule will receive a bench technical foul.

Player Eligibility:

  • Teams must have a minimum of four (4) player and 1 designated coach or player/coach on their roster to be eligible to compete.
  • Athletes must be aged 13 and older to compete
  • All participants must be registered ONPARA members for the 2021-2022 season.
