Location:
Haber Recreation Centre
3040 Tim Dobbie Drive
Burlington, ON L7M 0M4

Time:

Rules & Format:
This tournament will be played in a 3x3 format and will follow the same rules used by Wheelchair Basketball Canada for 3x3 games at Junior East & West Regional Championships (with a few minor exceptions):

  • The game ball shall be an IWBF approved size 6.
(Most coaches have agreed that a size 6 is more appropriate for this stage of development)
  • A shot clock of 24 seconds will be used.
  • The game may be officiated by one or two referees. Note: Wheelchair Basketball Canada recommends two referees as a development opportunity for a new referee to work with a veteran official in alignment with the Long Term Officials Development Model.
  • Two (2) seven (7) minute halves will be played, with a 2 minute intermission (stop time).
    • Each team will be entitled to 1 time out during the first half and 2 time outs in the second half with a maximum of 1 of these time outs in the last minute of the second half (during stoppage in play).
    • Each team will be entitled to 1 time out per extra period if extra periods are needed.
  • A player who has committed 4 fouls will be disqualified from the game.
    • A team is in a team foul situation when it has committed 4 fouls in one half.
      • When a team is in the team foul penalty situation, all subsequent player personal fouls committed on a player not in the act of shooting shall be penalized by 2 free throws, instead of a throw-in.
    • There shall be no 8 second violation rule.
    • There shall be no back-court violation rule.
    • Unless otherwise stated, IWBF rules and regulations will be followed.

Eligibility:

  • All participants must be current members of the Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association.
  • Athletes must be listed on their club's Division 3 (Recreational) roster in order to be eligible to play. It is the coach/team representative's responsibility to submit rosters to the OWSA prior to the tournament registration deadline.

Participation:

  • Teams that do not have enough athletes to participate are encouraged to merge with another team in order to maximize participation.
  • If you are an athlete who does not have a home club/team, please contact josee@onpara.ca and you will be placed on another team's roster.
